Red Deer Village is a family-owned luxury gated community in Glasgow. It was purchased by brothers John and Ivan Hendry took over in 2004 and has undergone a dramatic transformation in the years since. The over 50’s residential park has earned a fantastic reputation for its quality park homes and high standards throughout the grounds. There are currently 85 residential park homes on site with plans to expand to 183 with future development.
Park directors, John and Ivan, have taken a lot of inspiration for Red Deer Village from their time spent in North America. They found many high-quality retirement villages on their travels, and aimed to bring their ideas back to Scotland, where this concept was a rare sight. After heavy investment and plenty of redevelopment, the park has achieved a well maintained and tranquil environment. With the help of careful landscaping, they’ve created a safe and secluded space where residents can enjoy a peaceful retirement.
Now, at their halfway stage of development, they’re aiming to bring something new to the development and have enlisted the help of new supplier to the park, Omar. The first 2 Omar properties (Image and Regency) will be delivered to Red Deer Village in November 2022, with additional park homes due to arrive in subsequent months. Park director, John Hendry, said about the new prospect:
“We are very excited to be back working with Omar. We started our journey with them back in 1983, when our parents put one of their new homes on our first development in Cambridgeshire. Since then, they have gone from strength to strength to be one of the most successful manufacturers in the UK. We have worked with them on numerous other projects over the almost four decades in-between.
“It’s a thrilling new chapter for us at Red Deer. We’re between phases 3 and 4 of development. We’re really excited to see how the new phase will look. We like to bring new ideas into our park design regularly, which is easy to see from walking around, in terms of our models, interiors and landscaping. We’re really looking forward to working alongside Omar to take the village in a slightly new direction. It’s an aim of ours to continue ensuring the park’s diverse feel remains present.”
Director, Ivan Hendry, added:
“It’s great news that Omar will be suppling Red Deer Village with a range of their new park homes. We’ll be introducing models such as the Image, Regency and Middleton. There will also be some of the more Iconic favourites such as the Colorado and Heritage.
“We hope our kids are telling the same story 40 years from now.”
Red Deer offers buyers the opportunity to work with the manufacturer to create a park home to their exact specification. This means park prospective owners can include unique fixtures and make adaptions to improve accessibility. They also offer a bespoke interior design service, where no 2 homes are decorated the same.
Welcoming a new supplier isn’t the first time Red Deer Village have tried to do things differently. In 2017, they welcomed a £450k purpose-built community hub, for residents and their friends to enjoy a tea or coffee and a chat. The hub has hosted many events too, such as Macmillan Coffee Afternoons, charity Christmas lights switch-ons, arm chair yoga, cheese and wine nights, knitting bees and beauty product demonstrations with facials.
Red Deer Village also offers its’ residents access to a courtesy shuttle bus service, that takes residents for shopping once a week and to a monthly destination of their choice. This allows residents to spend time with their neighbours and build a sense of community.
