An ITV news crew visited the Omar Group Head Office and manufacturing facility in Brandon yesterday to interview Dean Westmoreland, Omar Group CEO, about the creation of employment opportunities in the area. With employment prospects improving significantly in the East of England in general, Tanya Mercer, ITV Anglia’s roving news reporter was on site to have a look around the manufacturing facility and to conduct the interview.
Over the past 4 years Omar has become “The good news factory” having delivered 14% growth per annum each year from 2010 to 2012 and 20% organic growth in 2013. Following its acquisition of Wessex Unique Lodges & Park Homes, Omar Group is forecasting 40% growth in output from its Bandon factory in 2014, creating a significant number of employment opportunities in Brandon.
The Company’s workforce has grown from 140 to 230 in the last 12 months, and with plans to recruit a further 22 Production Operatives and 6 new Apprentices over the summer period, as well as additional office staff, the company’s growth has been fantastic for the local area.
The footage filmed was shown on Anglia TV last night at 6:10pm as part of a report on improving employment prospects in the East of England. This positive bit of PR follows hot on the foot of Omar’s recent success in the Park Home of the Year competition run by Park Home & Holiday Caravan magazine where Omar scooped 1st prize for its all new 2014 Heritage park home and also picked up 3rd prize for its Colorado park home.
Dean Westmoreland, Omar Group CEO commented: “The feel good factor in our business at this time is amazing. We are particularly pleased to be offering 6 Apprenticeships this summer, which include 1 Plumber, 1 Carpenter, 2 Decorators, and 2 Electricians, as well as 25 other full time roles. This is an exciting time for the Omar Group and excellent news for the local economy.”
