We are currently seeking a HR Apprentice to be based at our production facility for park homes and luxury lodges in Brandon, Suffolk.
JOB TITLE: HR Apprentice
RESPONSIBLE TO: HR Director
HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 to 5:00 Monday – Friday
PLACE OF WORK: This role is based in Brandon, Suffolk – but may require travel from time to time.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Ensure the smooth administration of the HR Department and provide effective admin support to the HR team. You will work towards a level 3 CIPD qualification and 20% of your time will be dedicated to training via a mixture of external and internal training. Training is expected to take 18-24 months.
AREAS OF SUPPORT:
- Recruitment
- Track vacancies and seek appropriate input and approval from hiring managers
- Create vacancies for posting on internal and external recruitment sources
- Daily checking for new applicants, forwarding candidates to hiring managers
- Responding to applications appropriately with feedback, offers, rejections etc.
- Dealing with correspondence received from candidates
- Arranging interviews; booking meeting rooms and sending confirmation to candidates and hiring managers
- Employee Process and Procedure
- Issuing offer letters, contracts and starter packs, Right to Work checks and starter checklists
- Coordinating induction sessions
- Coordinating probation review process
- Coordinating disciplinary process – invitations, note taking, outcome letters
- Leaver process – acknowledge resignations, leaver checklist
- Ensuring relevant departments are informed of new starters, leavers and changes
- Creating and maintaining digital and paper employee files
- Absence Management
- Ensure absence records on the HR database are accurate and up to date
- Be the first point of contact to deal with holiday and sickness absence queries
- Track Return to Work interviews
- Invite letters to absence management and review meetings
- Assist with arranging Occupational Health referrals where appropriate
- HR Database Administration
- Ensure database is up to date with joiners, leavers and changes
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for HR Director
- Update holiday entitlements i.e. carry over, pro-rated
- General Administration
- Processing routine reference requests
- On-going update of employee databases
- Assisting with reviews process e.g. performance reviews, pay reviews
- Administration of cycle to work scheme
- Regular cover for reception for lunch/absences
By the end of the apprenticeship you will be able to take ownership for providing advice on a range of People Management issues from employee welfare to performance management, using company policies and current legislation.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 GCSEs with at least a 4/C in English and Maths or a Level 1 in Functional Skills
- Personable, highly organised individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
