We’re currently seeking a Buyer to join the team at our production facility in Ringwood, Dorset.
Job Title: Buyer
Responsible to: Purchasing Manager
Hours of Work: 40 hours Monday-Friday
Place of Work: This job is based at the factory in Three-Legged Cross.
Areas of Support
- Identify purchasing requirements in line with the demand planning process, to procure the correct parts or services to achieve production forecasts.
- Process purchase orders and forward to suppliers ensuring delivery time frames are in line with production requirements.
- Expedite where required and track orders to ensure goods are delivered on time, escalating potential problems appropriately.
- Build close working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Analyse the stock control system and maintain accuracy of data on the MRP system and collaborate cross functionally to maintain appropriate stock levels in relation to manufacturing requirements.
- Maintenance of stock codes and associated static data in Sage.
- Ensure that the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Works Orders are correct at all times and are aligned to appropriate product descriptions and quantities, enabling the business to plan, cost and manufacture products accurately and effectively.
- Maintaining WOs to capture any changes in PPS.
- Maintain matrices to support BOMs with feedback from production management.
- Work closely with Sales, Design, Production and Buying team to ensure that BOMs lists are constantly maintained and evolve in line with recent modifications or changes.
- Produce a monthly summary of the BOMs, providing explanation for any significant changes.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Previous experience working in a purchasing role within an office environment desirable.
- Experience in the use of industry standard MRP systems, purchasing and inventory control management preferable.
- Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills, and able to present data and reports effectively.
- High level of care and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Able to work in a small team and be keen to learn.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, MS Office products essential, Sage, or similar preferred
