Omar Group’s New £1.1m Factory Extension Now Operational

Market leading, park home and luxury lodge manufacturer, Omar Group, is to open an impressive new £1.1m, 43,806 sq. ft. factory extension development at their Brandon production facility this August.  As part of a long-term strategic plan, the new factory extension will not only support on-going growth and help to address demand, it will also create over 80 new jobs in the area and help to fund the future of local council services.

As a market leading, solutions provider, designer and manufacturer to the residential park home and lodge park marketplace, Omar Group has built up an impressive brand portfolio over recent years and now encompasses four distinct and respected brands: Omar Park & Leisure Homes, Wessex Unique Lodges & Park HomesOmar Park Development Services (OPDS) and Boutique Lodges, Holidays by Omar.

The team has worked tirelessly over the past six years to more than treble their sales, taking the group from a £10m business in 2010, to a business with turnover in excess of £30m in 2015/16.

In February this year Omar Group featured in the London Stock Exchange Group’s, 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain and in June, as further testimony of their exceptional growth, they were among only 150 British businesses to have been selected as one of 1,000 Companies to Inspire Europe; a landmark report which lists the 1000 most dynamic and fastest-growing small and medium-sized companies in Europe.

Over the last three years the company has created 220 new full time jobs, and ten apprenticeships last year were recruited to be trained in trades as diverse as Information Technology and Computer Aided Design to Carpentry and Plumbing.

In 2015, Omar invested in its manufacturing capability by opening a new production plant in Valletta Street, Hull; this new operation has already reached full production capacity.  To further support on-going growth and address demand, the company then made the decision to invest significantly in expanding the groups production facility in Brandon, Suffolk.

Omar appointed local contractors Bury Developments to manage the ambitious £1.1m, 43,806 sq. ft. factory extension development, which includes eight specially-designed finishing bays, additional storage and a new flooring area.  This new development has the full backing of Omar’s landlords, Forest Heath District Council, who have provided funding for over £500k of the investment; a move which will create a significant number of new jobs in the area not just at Omar, but within their supplier base. The rent Omar will pay on the new facility will also help to fund local council services.

The new factory extension is now in operation and on the 10th August, local dignitaries, customers, suppliers and the key contractors involved in the development will gather for the official opening.

Omar Group Chief Executive, Dean Westmoreland commended:  “Thanks to our strong working relationship with Forest Heath District Council, our new factory extension will enable us to significantly increase our capacity as well as allowing us to deliver genuine quality and efficiency improvements.  Bury Developments Ltd, Rees Pryer Architects LLP and Corporate Architecture Ltd have all done a fantastic job delivering the new finishing bays on time and in full.  Our ambitions don’t stop there though as we see ourselves outgrowing the Brandon site in 2019/20 when we will be looking to take on additional premises.”

Cllr Stephen Edwards, Forest Heath Cabinet Member for Resources and Performance of Forest Heath District Council commented: “This is great news for the local economy in Brandon and the surrounding area. By investing more than £500,000 we have added to our commercial property portfolio, we have helped enable the ambition and growth of a successful local business and we have helped to create over 80 new jobs for the local area. Not only that, but we have also negotiated a new lease with Omar which will provide the company with security of tenure for the site, while also covering our return on investment and creating a steady income to help support the future costs of our services to our local communities. This is a fantastic achievement for Omar, for the council officers that have driven this forward, and for my fellow councillors who had the vision to back this investment.”

Austin Cornish, Managing Director of Bury Developments commented: “We were delighted to have been awarded this major project.  It’s been a fantastic opportunity that has enabled us to demonstrate our capability of delivering full turnkey solutions; from the initial planning application, through to handing over a full and complete commercial unit. It’s been a pleasure working with the teams from Omar Group and Forest Heath District Council and all of us here at Bury Developments wish them the very best in this exciting new era.”
